Shooting a cover always involves two things: a bitchin’ car and a beautiful girl. Well, OK – THREE things: a bitchin’ car, a beautiful girl and a fantasy scenario. What I mean is, the trick to making something amazing out of a tried-and-true combination like car/girl, is creating a dream sequence out of it. A girl can be beautiful, but you need to get the right look and pose from her.
A car can be amazing, but it needs to be in the right setting and the right light. Combine all this in just the right way and you got a great shoot on your hands…
Then, throw something into the mix that cranks it up a little. Something she can use to make a decent shot a great shot. A cigarette? Done to death. A cutting torch or a wrench? Nope. Way too cheese-dog and pretty lame – the trick is to find something that makes it all a fantasy, but if you try hard enough, you could imagine the real possibility of the whole scene. Come up with a prop she can use to make her and the shot that much…HOTTER.
You get all that right, and she’ll start making the whole thing come together in ways we usually didn’t anticipate.
And then a final shot will fall into place and you’ll be told much later by old magazine guys that you can’t put firearms on your cover and that you made a big mistake and then you can’t keep that issue in stock and it shows up on eBay for, like, $100 and you think that maybe your gut instinct wasn’t all that wrong.

Nice to see a super hott brunette gracing the cover of the issue I’ve been not-so-patiently awaiting for in between the 36 poundings of measureable snowfalls this Winter in Chicago! Cheers & Gears!

Ah, hate to burst your bubble, High Life Rocker, but this was from Issue #8 that was published a few years ago!
You would’ve loved being on that shoot, though. We had two guys pull up in a truck, park alongside the road, drop the tailgate and drink a 12-pack of Bud Light as they watched the entire shoot. And let’s just say that Miss Jamie couldn’t necessarily keep that little Mexican blanket secure at all times.
Fret not, my snow-pounded friend – the next issue is on its way and you’ll dig it just the same!

High Life Rocker – issue #8 is on EBay right now for $15.99 if you still want it…
Stoner – Have you ever considered putting together a hardbound edition of the first 4 or five issues of Garage? Kinda like what the boys over at DICE and the Rodder’s Journal did. It would appear by the EBay prices for your early issues that the demand is there – just a suggestion.

The most bitchin rag there is, still love this one though. When talent is as abundant as it is, it must be hard for your staff to choose from all that sweet honey that you guys provide for us greasy hellraisers world wide, my sympathy for all.
